1 What is the Public File?

Each local commercial radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech levels etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK's radio regulator.

This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output and what we are doing for our local community.

The Public File is available on-line, and as a print out. Any comments on the file can be made to us or Ofcom.

6 Automation & Local Programming

Sometimes it is necessary to pre-record (automate) programmes on the station. Currently we automate 11 hours during weekdays (0000-0600, 1900-0000), 12 hours on a Saturday (0000-0600, 1800-0000) and 20 hours on a Sunday (0000-1000, 1400-0000)

Bright FM utilises studio facilities in Worthing for the majority of its output, but prides itself on providing a truly local service for the area it serves.

Certain off-peak shows are shared with sister stations Splash FM, Sovereign FM and Arrow FM.

7 Any other issues or areas of interest likely to impact on localness

There are no current issues that impact on the localness of the station.

8 Events & Charities we support

Bright FM is very active in the support of local charities, and works with a number of organisations on events through the year.  Charities we have worked with in recent months include Burgess Hill & District Lions, Cancervive, St Peter & St James Hospice and the Chestnut Tree House Childrens Hospice

Bright FM supports local charities and non-profit organisations through its ‘Help Point’ feature. Broadcast through weekdays, details are broadcast of upcoming charity events, and appeals are made for volunteers when necessary.

Bright FM supports, attends and broadcasts from local events whenever possible, and promotes them in its ‘Events guide’ feature, which airs through the day, seven days a week.

Events we are regularly involved with include:

  • Burgess Hill Bike Ride
  • ‘Its Magic’ summer concerts, Haywards Heath
  • Battle Proms’ Concert, Borde Hill Gardens
  • Haywards Heath Town Day
